Comcast router problem

Summary: I am unable to connect via SSH to my web hosting service, hostingrails.com. It appears that packets die on their return trip, causing the local SSH client to think that the SSH server has closed the connection or timed out, which is not the case.

This worked fine until 15 May 2007. I did not change the setup. The hosting service did not change the setup. I waited a few days to ensure that it was not temporary. Obviously it is not.

• 17 May - traceroute from me to the host (luther.hostingrails.com)
• 17 May - support email from hostingrails.com
• 18 May - more awesome support from hostingrails.com
• 19 May - traceroute from host to me (problem still there!)
• 25 May - I spoke to the policy and legal department. They were nice, but said that they couldn't help. They opened a ticket with a higher tier support and said I would hear back from them in 24-48 hours. That was 3 days ago. And it still doesn't work!
• 30 May - Still no fix. Speaking to "supervisor" Mr. Karambelas right now; he has been the most helpful person to date. He is involving his lead technical support person, due to the "highly technical" nature of my traceroutes.
